    The Champion Development Director will advocate for the leader's personal growth journey which enlightens and empowers a community of the world's most dedicated and influential leaders. The Director will collaborate with Senior Leadership to set the strategy and implement initiatives that enhance and support the champion experience while providing the infrastructure to recruit, educate, recognize and retain the more than 10,000 champions who volunteer annually. To partner with all functions and regions to build a consolidated team approach to recruiting, educating, recognizing and retaining champions to enhance the champion experience, allowing members to grow personally, professionally, and within YPO. This position has accountability for the Portfolios of Champion Recognition and Awards, Champion Development Planning and Execution, Champion Recruitment and Personal Curriculum of Service.



    • Collaborates with the Chief Governance Officer and Champion Development working group on strategy and implementation plans in support of recruiting, educating, recognizing and retaining the more than 10,000 champions who volunteer annually.
    • Engage the organization to articulate the value of the champion experience.
    • Ensure every champion has an engaging and valuable experience by creating access to collected knowledge and wisdom as well as opportunities for idea exchange; and by building relationships and providing service to all functions and regions who work with champions.
    • Responsible for the motivation and management of direct reports, including hiring, evaluation, retention and mentoring; and promotes a culture of team development and mentoring to support the vision of champion development and stimulate the passions of world class member leaders.
    • Developing branding and messaging of champion development.



    • A proven ability to interact with chief executive officers in a professional and collaborative manner
    • Strong written and oral presentation skills. Excellent project management skills, with experience in the development and implementation of solutions.
    • Ability to be proactive in achieving desired outcomes, being comfortable with creating processes and structures.
    • Strong customer-service orientation.
    • Proven track record as a team player.
    • Comfortable working collaboratively in a multi-cultural organization with international members; sensitivity and awareness of cultural differences.
    • Ability to work within an environment of frequently changing priorities and as an integral part of a team.
    • Meet critical deadlines and set priorities in a timely fashion


    • Ten years of leadership in an association or organization managing volunteers Successful track record of managing and motivating a team, including remote locations
    • Experience in managing multiple budgets, Five years of marketing experience. Background in global education design and delivery for c-level audience; Understanding of e-learning solutions and social media


    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
    • Project management certification helpful
    • Membership or association experience helpful


    • Domestic and international travel required
