    Reports to (Title): Senior Manager, Marketing Communications

     

    Location: Cape Town / remote work 

     

    Type: Statement of Work (SOW) - on going contract / full time 

     


    POSITION PURPOSE
    The Manager of Marketing and Communications is the lead representative and key strategist within a specifically assigned YPO region and/or department for marketing, public relations, social media and communications activities. This person serves as our direct link to YPO regions as well as YPO’s various departments, planning and scheduling the marketing and communications strategy. This position will guide the strategy for two-way communications with YPO regions and departments, serving as their strategic guide, advocate, messenger, coordinator and champion.


    You will be required to develop the strategic plan, as well as the proposed schedule of marketing initiatives, to ensure the successful development, delivery, implementation, and expected impact of marketing, social media, communications and public relations programs. You will also maintain annual and quarterly budgets, and act as a proactive member of the YPO regional and/or departmental team.

    Responsibilities

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead the development of regional and/or departmental marketing and communications strategy and contribute to the overall marketing, public relations, social media and communications strategy and execution framework to meet the goals of YPO and the region and/or department
    • Work as the liaison in cooperation with the regional directors, chapter and regional communication chairs (Chapter Administrators, Networks, Education, Family, Forum, Membership) to develop integrated marketing and communications programs.
    • Lead planning and review process for marketing, social, PR and communications programs.
    • Build and maintain relationships with region and functional leaders to understand the needs within the market.
    • Play an integral role generating positive and proactive media coverage of YPO and its members.
    • Lead the generation of online content that engages targeted audience segments and leads to measurable action.
    • Help facilitate press and media outreach. Help manage the organization’s relationships with reporters, publications, and all media requests.
    • Coordinate YPO.org webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly.
    • Work with chapters to develop marketing and communication templates that can be used across the organization.
    • Ensure that all projects meet or exceed high standards set by YPO and fit into YPO’s long-term mission.
    • Create and enforce production schedules for on-time delivery of projects.
    • Provide leadership, input and support to the marketing and communications department
    • Marketing, social media, public relations and communications plan delivery - drive the delivery of the marketing and communications plan including:
    • Development and management of a strategic marketing and communication plan to develop and expand the value of YPO membership within the member community and the aspirational quality of the YPO brand among prospective YPO members.
    • Development of marketing materials, tools, content to support regional and departmental YPO teams.
    • Help create a strategic media and public relations plan, and help execute those strategies and programs that generate excitement and awareness about YPO in the press.
    • Be a YPO evangelist internally and externally.
    • Engage with internal leaders to identify key story ideas on YPO and YPO’s members, partnership and networks.
    • Partner with internal subject matter experts and external partners to develop and execute a robust social media and blog strategy including Twitter and LinkedIn.
    • Support of membership renewal programs as needed.
    • Work with regional teams in supporting local events, educational and media opportunities.
    • Work with social media, public relations and communications teams to identify and communicate regional and departmental activity across multiple platform.
    • Enforce YPO style in all printed and electronic communications.
    • Budget management of marketing and communications activities wisely and effectively
    • Overall responsibility for planning and reporting of regional/departmental marketing budgets, accrual and expenditure.
    • Work with leadership to reach agreement on budget for the year and quarterly program spending.
    • Selection and management of agencies, contractors and vendors as required to support marketing activities

    Reporting, Metrics and Research

    • Work closely with Marketing to monitor performance through KPI dashboards.
    • Lead broader projects as needed.
    • Provide weekly updates on current projects.

    Qualifications

    SKILLS

    • Executing results-driven marketing plans.
    • Using CRM systems to measure and report return-on-investment for campaigns and other activities against set objectives; prefer SalesForce though not required
    • Strong project and people management skills
    • Proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure while managing multiple projects.
    • Excellent presentation and writing skills, samples will be requested.
    • Strong experience managing a fixed budget.
    • Senior-level influencing skills.
    • Proven social media marketing skills.

     

    EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role.
    • Experience developing strategic marketing and communications plans and programs.

     

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION

    • BA/BS degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Marketing in a membership organization or association.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to travel 25% within region and internationally.
