Overview

POSITION PURPOSE

Manage internal software development team to create and enhance member facing software that delivers high quality and high value to YPO members.             

Responsibilities

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads a team of direct reports. Champions, evaluates performance, facilitates prioritization and sets expectations/goals.
  • Lead team of software developers to produce enhancements to existing code base and develop new greenfield projects.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in overall project management by prioritizing, planning and tracking project progress.
  • Responsible to scope projects and guide team to provide accurate work estimates and delivery goals.
  • Manage agile development process and supervise cadence including grooming of user stories, sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
  • Responsible for researching product development options and provides analysis for product direction.
  • Partner effectively with product owners to identify and prioritize customer needs.
  • Own release management and source control configurations.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and support the on-going development of the team.

 

 OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and recommend best practices for software architecture in web and mobile applications.
  • Hold weekly 1:1 meetings to review workload, provide coaching and feedback.
  • Provide inspiration and strategic leadership.
  • Research industry trends and evaluate new technologies

  • Ability to work within an environment of frequently changing priorities and multiple projects.

 

 EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND

  • 12 + years’ experience in software development industry.
  • 5+ years of experience successfully managing and developing a high performing team.
  • C# .NET development experience building complex, high performance and highly available distributed software systems.
  • Superb understanding of software development concepts and best practices
  1. Dependency Injections
  2. SOLID principles
  3. Design patterns
  • Strong understanding of Agile development process.
  • Confident in creating creative solutions and navigating conflict.

 

EDUCATION/TRAINING/CERTIFICATION

  • B.S. in computer science

 

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time, both domestic and internationally.
